Quick update

Got a call from the PM today. Framers have been delayed by another job (not in our development -- I blame you people in Cobblestone <shakes fist in the air>). PM apologized for the delay and says they should be starting tomorrow. Husband's observation: You know those Amish; not very hard workers. ;)

  1. Wait... you're not priority number 1? ;)
They'll likely be done in no time flat--can't wait to see some pictures!

  2. Our was delayed for the same reason. Even when they did finally start, they kept leaving to work on another house!

  3. Are the Amish really framing your house? We have Amish communities in a neighboring county, but I have never seen framing houses for any of the local builders.

  4. The Amish framed and sided our house. I'm really surprised to see how many crews keep leaving to work on other houses. Here they seem to finish one before they start on another. Hope they are back to your house soon!

  5. I don't have a blog, but I've been following yours because we are also building in the Pittsburgh area. I can totally commiserate. We were given 8/17 as our closing date intially, and they still haven't started framing our house. PM claims they are scheduled to start our roof and HVAC on Thurs., but everything seems to be so behind. They haven't done a thing on our lot since 6/15!

    1. Hang in there! Where are you all building?

    2. We're building in Chestnut Hill Estates in North Huntingdon (east of the city). I was so excited when I discovered the handful of local blogs to follow shortly after we purchased our lot. It's a great way to pass the time while we're just waiting for some progress of our own :)

  6. I know. Can't believe we aren't the 1 and only priority! ;) It's really an Amish framing crew. They do amazing work. Here's hoping that they come today and stay till the job is done. Nothing else going in our development, but we share crews (including our PM) with Cobblestone, which is a much bigger development with lots of houses going up.

  7. They really do great work. I have had a few custom furniture pieces made by the Amish and they are fantastic. They really take pride in their work, which I feel like can be rare in this industry where "quantity" often seems to outweigh "quality". Lucky you!

  8. Nothing today =( To be perfectly fair, we were a smidge ahead of where we thought we would be because we didn't have to drill pilings. Rolling with it.

Oh, and to be perfectly clear that was sarcasm on the husbands part. We both think the Amish framers are amazing.
